Wilmington Film on the Rise…Again

With just under a month to go in the first quarter of 2011, production projects currently in Wilmington, North Carolina (8) have already surpassed last years totals (5) with more sure to follow. The result: a talented crew base in high demand, a movie studio nearing capacity, and local filmmakers breathing a huge sigh of relief. Below are a list of current productions and the status of the project.

JULY 21st – Comedies About Losers & Winners

The Buck Johnson Story (short) – a writer struggles to understand the motivations of his redneck lead character.

Half Empty (feature) – Two strangers meet in a bar. Sam just got a new job, and Adam, has just been fired…from the same jo…b. Sam goes home to his girlfriend’s house and finds another man’s wallet. Looking at the ID inside he sees that it belongs the guy he just met in the bar, Adam. Each wants what the other has, and fate intercedes to give them what they deserve, in this feel-good-being-bad indie.
(both films made in Wilmington)
